Direct fire into cabin versus facing the trunk

When I had my 10" L5 in the trunk, it actually "hit" harder facing the trunk, but it sounded louder into the cabin. Box was 2.0 cubes, tuned to 38 Hz.

in my car firing forward sounds cleaner, as to the rear seems boomier which most interpret as louder. Current set up can only fire forward and I'm fine with that.

I'm in the process of sealing my box in to my cabin. I wanted to avoid cancelation...

I tried my last set of subs in different directions and found that pointing straight to the right, neither front or back firing, sounded the best, most output, and deepest. Try it different ways like others are saying and see which works best for your vehicle and ears.
