Direct Connect Leads

Gave in and ordered one Audio Technix Strato 12D4

saw that it had direct connect leads. Don't want to take it to a local audio shop to have them charge me $30 for something I can do for free.

Where do I even begin to attempt to connect these as far as wiring it to the speaker terminal on the enclosure and then wiring it down to 2 ohms to my amp.

Umm, the same way you would any other sub. Instead putting the speaker wire into a terminal, you connect it to the wire. You can use connectors, or solder. If the leads are long enough, you can put them directly in the terminal, but I doubt that. To get to 2 ohms, you wire the voice coils in parallel.

So when you say connect it to the wire, do you mean the wire coming from the amp? if that's what you're saying, Im confused even more

and yes I get I wire the voice coils in parallel to get a 2 ohm load. What I was asking was how would I do that with the Strato sub having direct leads. Do I use a third speaker wire? Sorry if Im asking alot but Im a novice when it comes to this

ok. Using these, what exactly would I use to patch up the hole I make in the box allowing the wire to come through?

Connect the direct leads on the sub in the configuration you need to see two ohms, then take the wire from your speaker input on the amp, and connect it to one o the sets of leads (either with connectors, solder, etc). If you use wire nuts, do the same thing and patch the hole with silicone to prevent any leaks.

wire nuts really don't work on thin/high strand count wire. Just twist and tape your connections.

Make wires off your terminals long enough to reach the direct leads....

They Work fine for me. Just make sure nuts are big enough + electrical tape around for support aint overkill.

it seems the OP may not know what direct leads are and thats why hes confused. If so you will have wires already coming out directly from the sub wired to its voice coils within. From there you wire them like you would any other sub with different terminations

Simple. Just think about them as Terminals

the direct connects that come on at subs are pretty long actually, we have a few stratos laying around the house, you shouldnt have any issue wiring them directly to the terminals on the sub box, or maybe even to the amp depending on where you have it mounted.

this is what I needed. Someone who actually owned one who could tell me the specifics of the sub. The box I have has a binding post terminal. So I just unscrew the positive side and place both positive wires in there? or do I have to actually wire the two coils together before I put them in the terminal?

it has a screw terminal on the inside?

just hook both pos to the pos terminal and both neg to the neg terminal. done...
