Dimming headlights with just my HU on

Quick question that should be obvious. When my HU is hooked up alone (without all my amps and other stuff) my lights still dim with the music. Does this automatically mean my alternator is going bad? Thanks

Somthing is seriously phucked with your electrical system, a HU uses less then 10 amps of current.

Get your battery and alternator checked at a local parts store.

Edit- If you are talking about the lights on the HU display a little dimming is common when using the internal amp.

If your head unit alone makes your lights dim then I believe your car sucks at life.

prolly alt thast what mine did right before it quit on me try charging the battery seperate then put it back in see if it drains down again .....

i would say your alt is dead and you are running down your battery. what is your volts at?

Im gonna check the voltage tomorrow...Im pretty sure my alt is pretty much phuked. Good excuse to get a HO alt and a yellow top, huh?!

Dimming head lights with only an HU hooked up is a sign of a problem, deffinatly get that Alt checked out.

hahaha...not funny. I drive a 97 chevy camaro (with probably equally bad electrical problems as a civic or kia...so I guess it is kinda funny...) But I didn't think it should be worse than my brothers civic!

i had the same problem with my 96 rs, upgraded to a ho and haven't had any problems since.

get a red top

a yellow top only runs at 12.5 where the red top will do the full 14.4 volts.
