i know, I KNOW..... i know you guys hate caps. But i hate weight. I hate it real good. I drive a diesel VW that gets 50mpg (54 if I do 60). Wieght is bad, real bad. I thought about getting a Kinetik bat but 70# is just too much.

So, I am looking at the digital hybrid caps. I am not a boomer but I like clean sound. I am running two fi ssd10's from two Alphasonik PMA800DA's (yes they are craptastic but I worked for a dealer that sold them regardless the are running at 1640 per sub (or there abouts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ). needless to say just running the HU 1/3 volume the lights dim.

I do have a heavy duty bat upfront since it is a diesel. I have 0ga running to the trunk. I prolly should upgrade the alt but have not looked too much and will prolly put in a Kinetik HC2400 inplace of the OEM battery come spring.

So, is the weight savings worth the hybrid cap?

no the weight savings is not worth it...

if you get 50 mpg your spoiled already.

Id start looking for a sightly better alt.

Id imagin its pretty small on a vw

oh, and can i put the HC2400 in place of the OEM battery? Or is it not too good to use it for that?

The HO alt will hurt the fuel economy much worse than a measly 70# battery would.

The cap won't do anything for you. Batteries might. I would say though that if you are concerned about weight shed about half (or more) of the stereo. You've got to have at least 200# worth of box, sub and amp there. If you're dead set on keeping the big *** system but are concerned about battery weight go with a pair of the Batcap 800s or their Hawker equivalent. 10# each. You could probably wire 3 of them in parallel in place of your starting battery.
