Jus was wondering whats the diffrence in these batteriess if there is any diffrence at all when running them for car audio. some people run red tops and some people run yellow tops. me personally i run the red, because when i bout them i didnt know much about car audio as i do now and i guy told me to run the red tops for some reason, not that it was bad. Even when i read on optimas website it said if you want more for decibels run the yellowtop. Will that make the red top less effective in car audio?

I have same problem..but i didnt buy an optima yet..still think which to get a yellow or red top..i might go with yellow to get more DBs and a deep cycle...have you seen a red top with 8 power and 8 ground wires attached to it...i dont think so..i have not..i have seen a car with that setup at my local shop

in order to get more dbeez you are going to need at least two ran in db mode.

Cause in the optima flyer for a yellow top it has pictures of systems..for red tops it just a pic of a regular car with nothing in it...one of my daily drivers has a red top but no system..its fine...but i would recommend a yellow top for car audio enthusiasts..thanks

The yellow top is a pretty high efficiency deep cycle, not your standard deep cycle- it is capable of enough cca's to start a car, while maintaining the ability to be drained like any deep cycle. I still run a normal starter battery with a yellow top in the trunk in parallel.

A redtop is made to be run in 30 second intervals. i.e. starting a car. after the 30 seconds it has a great current lose. Deep cycle is ment to stay running and have power drawn from it. and a yellow top is both a deep cycle and a starter battery its what is called a dual purpose.

i don't think you need an isolator, just run them in parallel.
different batteries sometimes cancel eachother out trying to regulate the voltage to the same between the 2, so an isolator will protect burnout by not letting that occur.

I have a nice heavy duty isolator Im not using I can sell ya for $40 if you decide to use one. I was gonna put it in my car but the car is on its last legs so im not gonna waste the money in upgrading the power in it.
