Hey guys, new here-not to car audio- looking for some help. I have a popping sound that occurs when I switch tracks, power on/off, or cut the volume to 0. I've watched the sub and it's moving a pretty good bit.. more than 1" I imagine. Some DC is making it to the speaker I think because it's flexing considerably. Most of the time it doesn't "pop" louder than I normally play my music, but it's VERY noticeable.
I just bought a '96 Toyota Camry ( 2 door //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif ) and I had a MTX 7000(I think.) sittin' around so I bought an amp.
The amp is a MTX 7000 as well, ironically. It's old school //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I got it from the music/record/car-home audio/electronics repair(me) shop I work at. It seems to be working fine.
I built a 2 ft^3 box with a slot port(not important atm) to put it in because the box I got it in was crap.
The car came with an older Sony Xplode //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif I have an old basic but trusty Pioneer that I have yet to test out in the car.
I also have a cheap .5 f cap installed.
4 gauge to the back, then 8 ga to cap/amp. 8 ga ground on the cap and 4 ga ground on the amp. Scraped the paint off under the carpet and put a screw in the body.
Thanks for reading and I'm hoping I'm overlooking something easy/cheap.. Budget Bumpin' lol
