Differences in volts

I own 2 Digital Designs M2A amps. The gains on one has a working voltage between 1.5v and 5 volts. The gains on the other one has a working voltage between .8 and 8 volts. I know the power is the exact same. How would the difference in volts affect performance? I would think that the M2A that goes to 5 volts would clip easier.

it mainly means that the gains will need to be set differently. unless your running a line driver or something to that effect which bumps the preout voltage way up. then it could be possible for the 5 volt to clip.

no affect on performance, just where gain setting will be at. odd to see 1.5v as minimum needed for full output though. if true, you would want at least a 4v output from your source or line driver.

the latter amp can accept a wider voltage range. use a DMM when setting gains between the two so you get the same voltage output on both.
