Im not really a noob, when it comes to car audio but i really don't understand the difference in bass quality......... poor, decent, good. Ya know. So when somebody says "good quality bass, poor bass", i don't understand. How can you tell if your woofers are good bass quality or not. Someone please explain. I just never really understand it.

I didn't understand until I heard the difference.

My friend had 2 xplodes, and they were the only subs I had heard. So I naturally thought they were great.

Then I got my mag....and it was a world of difference. Night and day.

He replaced his xplodes with RE Se's, and a week later he came up to me and said "I know what you mean now about how the bass sounded...fake." and I laughed and said "Good."

I don't know technically why, besides good sounding subs sound much much better on music, and much more natural. They blend. My mag on normal music can be turned up pretty loud, but still blend perfectly. Whereas the xplodes had to be turned down, or they ruined the sound of the music with crappy bass.

You can't make a judgement without some kind of reference. A really high quality set of headphones or a really good home stereo (not home theater) setup with good source material, CD not MP3, make good references. Live music makes the best. Until you know how the bass should sound, you can't tell if it's good or not.
