surface area/air movement....depends on the vehicle in a small enough vehicle a 10" sub will actually perform better than a 12". Subs need room to breathe....if we're talking single sub go with the 12, if we are talking 2 subs...maybe consider the 10"s, not experienced enough with the air space needed or in that vehicle to tell you for sure.

Generally speaking though, 12s have more surface area than a 10 and should move more air....not much of a difference past that...maybe power handling, don't know depends on the subs I'm not familiar enough.

If we are talking a difference in sound quality in general I highly doubt there is one.

And lastly, maybe a difference in price and enclosure needs.

Just a hint though, I would much rather look into differences in amplification and electrical needs.

gawd why are people's first questions always about subs and which is better....know what really makes a difference between SUB 1 and SUB 2 of any brand?

Enclosure

Amplification

Electrical supply

Air space

Sub position

^^you should know all these things before even thinking about subs.

Low quality sub built with all these things in mind^^ will almost always sound better than a high quality sub with none of these things taken into consideration.

I like it a lot more when somone comes in and says hey I got an alternator and batteries that can handle shelling out these many amps, so I bought this Amplifier which my electrical system should handle well, now I have this much trunk/rear end space to use and this much amplification. Which sub would be best suited for my application? I like to listen to ________

these are the kind of answers, information and knowledge im looking for. i want people that want to help. i have been reading on this forum for the past 5 days, ever since i wanted to get a system.
