i have a question for you guys, whats the better setup

i have a set of XR525 component JL speakers

should i buy a new set of JL 3way XR653's or should i just add a mid bass driver to my existing components?

what would be the better setup?

i will be running the front stage on a 300/4 JL amp controlled by a 880PRS

Adding a seperate midbass will require an extra two channels of amplification, and you'd need some way to bandpass them, whether it's on the head unit or amp-mounted crossovers. The three-way set would just need two channels of amplification if you stay passive.

you'll run the 2way component set passively off channels 1 and 2 and have the HPF on the amp set a little high, maybe in the 315hz range. Channels 3 and 4 can run the midbass driver actively. You could also just find the 3way JL crossover or something like it and bridge the 300/4 into 2ch mode to run them.

whats the better way of doing it? i will just buy the XR653's if i need to, i was just trying to make use of what i have and figured the 5.25 would sound better then the 4" anyways
