allrighty now...

I plan on pickin up some Kicker RS components next week, and i just realized that I won't be able to fit 6.5's in my doors due to me having 6x8's and i may have to cut the hole larger in the metal, which I want to avoid doing. Now my question, will I notice a giant difference from 5 1/4's to 6 1/2's???? seeing as how i can just drop the 5 1/4's in the doors with an adapter piece...answer meeeee...

and they will be amped with about 85-100 watts each. arghz.

In most cases, you can use an adapter plate to fit 6.5s in 6x8 (or 5x7) openings with no cutting at all.

You'll get more midbass from 6.5s, and a little bit more output overall.

i'd go with the 6.5's for sure no questions asked...but will 6.5's fit into a 6x8 hole with an adapter? or will they be too big...darn fords and their 6x8's..

the cars a ford escape too if that means anything...anyone have an escape and fit 6.5's into the factory location?

I'd bet money that they will fit perfectly with no cutting.

I have a 3rd gen Explorer, and my last vehicle was a 2nd gen Explorer. Both used 5x7 (probably the same thing you are referring to as a 6x8) and both fit a 6.5 with no problems. My Pro 60s came with the adapter plate, and even the holes lined up. No cutting required.

If you don't have an adapter plate, you can make a baffle with sheet metal, ABS plastic, or thin wood.

but hrmmm now i may have to order the 6 1/2's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif thaaaanks for the help.

The difference is 1.25" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I made plates to fit 6.5's in the Explorer- worked great, no probelms at all. Just trace around a 5x7, then put a 6.5 in the center of it and trace. Cut around the outside, cut out the hole for the speaker, drill holes for screws and you're done.

A scrap hunk of laminate flooring works GREAT for speaker adapters. About 5/16" thick, very dense, and easy to work with.

I'm up in Gurnee if you need a piece as I have a bunch in the garage //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
