What is the difference between voice coil sizes? I figure bigger is better, but why? I have seen them from 2 inches to 4.. are there bigger than that?

just get a good sub and most good subs seem to have bigger voice coils but dont use that in shopping for subs just get a good brand

Voice coil sizes vary from application to application depending on the design on the woofer. In general larger coils have larger surface area and there for can take more power because it can desipate it faster. Don't get the idea bigger is better. The design has gotta be there to back it up.
