Difference between slot and square?

I am building a box and I don't know if I am using a slot port or square port. What is the definiton of these ports.

square is a square slot is a rectangle...

Thanks, I didn't know if using a slot port that I would have to use the whole side of the box.

so in that case if the port is 5x10 and its in the middle of the box, that makes it slotted, I thought a slot port was using one side of the box as a side wall of the port

so when I build my port, its going to be in the middle of my box and not touching the box wall, do I call that a square or slot. Its going to be 10x8

I'd call it a port with 80sq.in.
