difference between kicker dx1000.1 and aq1200d?

it's the dx that does 1000 at 2 ohms and i would run either one on 2 ohm. i have the dx now but might sell it to get the audioque amp. it's powering a skar vvx12 and it seems like the over time the kicker puts out less power when i have it on for longer so i'm hoping the aq would be more efficient. would the output be a huge difference though?

The kicker doesn't put out less power over time, that's just your ears becoming accustomed to higher amounts of sound pressure. For running at 2 ohms, the kicker will beat the audioque because it's built to put out full power @ 2 and not 1. However, if you were to run your setup at 1 ohm or even .5, the AQ would be the ideal choice. Also, I would put money down on the AQ being more of a stout amp in terms of taking more abuse from voltage drop, lower impedance, etc.

thank you that's what i was looking for. i do get some pretty bad voltage drops sometimes the kicker has taken it pretty nicely. idk how long my sub will be able to take 1000 watts either

Assuming it's clean power that skar should be able to handle it for a few good minutes before heating up too much. Personally, I wouldn't give them much over 800w. To be honest, they don't really need much over 800w either. It gets to a point where you're adding power but the difference in power is so little, you don't hear a difference, all it's doing is just heating up the sub more.

yeah thats one of the main reasons i wanted to get an aq now because i'm probably overpowering my sub a little too much now because it does get pretty hot. thank you for all the help though
