Difference between 10" and 12" really...?

Hi,

I am really interested in the difference between the 10" subs and 12" subs, other than size...

I guess my real question is:

I basically use a sub to enhance the bass - I really dont want the loud thumping sound that you can hear a block away - I play my music for me to hear, not the entire block.

That being said, I really was thinking about going with two 10" subs, but then, the 12" versions are only $20 more.

If I get the 12" and just dont turn them up as loud as I would have the 10"?

Will the 12" take more power than the 10"?

I know nothing about car audio or subs...

Well, do 12" subs normally require more power than 10" subs?

your question is flawed but understandable:

the level of bass reproduction and perceived clarity is impacted by a speaker's design, the size and type of enclosure used, midbass response of the other speakers in the vehicle, and the installation of said products faaaar more that simply 10 vs 12 inch. There are 18s that play "tight."

but alas we all start somewhere and all opinions are obviously suggestive so take them with grain of sodium chloride :)

buy an IDQ 10 in a small sealed box and call it a day

you cannot learn everything overnight and most people are too lazy to answer such involved questions--

good luck sir.

All things being equal, no.
