diff between manu-matic/manual/auto

why does everybody have to hate on automatics for. my first car was a manual but now i have an auto. i got no problems with it cus when your as lazy as me you want to do as little work as possible. and has anyone ever driven a manual truck? i dont know about the newer ones but the older ones are the worst thing in the world too drive.
i drove a manual ****** 95 dodge ram for a few months, dont know if that is as old as you're refering to

but anyway, manual is just more fun, you have so much more control of the vehicle with manual, thats the reason why most people like it so much

I drove a '91 Ford F-150...that was the most control, and the most safe, I've ever felt while driving.

I really hope I never run into you on the road //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Driving isn't about doing the least work as possible, it's being as safe as possible //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I don't mind driving an automatic, but there's a loss of control, and therefore it's easier to get lulled into being unaware of your surroundings.

borg warner designed and manufactured the t56 as well as many other trannys (t5 in the fox bodys and then switched to the t45 with 94up i believe). Tremec bought out bw about 5 or so years ago. Now tremec sells it under thier own name.
awesome, thanks

All my cars have been autos, but I'm gettin a stang gt soon, soo yea looks like I'm gonnah ave to learn to drive a stick soon. I think I'd be safer on the road with an auto, though, seems like I'd be preoccupied with shifting n shlt to be paying attention to whats going on around me. Oh yea I'm gonna have to do something about that god-awful mustang shifter too, I can't be drivin around if i feel like a god **** hunchback either...

In my experience, it was the opposite...i was always more aware of what was going on, but YMMV.
Well we'll see. My friend said she's gonna teach me to drive stick lol. Guess it's kinda different most of the ppl I know who drive sticks have all their life, same with autos. Just gonna have to see. No matter what though, gonna have to change that terrible terrible mustang shifter...... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

if i remember right i drove a 83' toyata truck and it was the worst thing ever to drive. and have you ever driven in a place like san francisco in a stick shift. waiting for traffic on all those hills sucks. as for control, you do get better control with a manual so i'll admit to that.

i dont understand why its sucks to be in traffic with a stick. cant you just stay in first gear since you wont really be goin too fast. or is this the traffic where traffic is moving quickly for one sec and then comes to a halt again and again and again/

what sucks so much about stop and go traffic is feathering the clutch between slowing down and stopping and getting going again. But if its just slow moving traffic than yeah sure the lock it in first and your set its the stop go stop go stop gets you

Yea that's how it is here a lot of the time, which is why I always have second thoughts about it...
