alright, so im running about 1800 watts for my whole system. went ahead and ordered a second battery to help out my primary battery and come to realize that these might not work together, as far as charging goes? here is the primary battery Interstate Mega-Tron Plus MTP-65 Automotive Battery 850 CCA and the secondary that i just ordered SHURiKEN SK-BT45 (SKBT45) 1250 Watt 12V Car Battery Power Cell from what i am reading, wet cell batteries and AGM batteries can't be mixed. can someone guide me in the direction that might allow me to use these? thanks

so i can hook them in parallel and have them both charge from my alt? and what would the regulator be needed for?
Yes to the first part. What the regulator does is lets the batteries charge up fine when the car is running. When the car is off it acts as a breaker that stops current flow from your front to your rear battery. This allows you to play your system safely with the car off and not worry about draining your front battery, because all it's doing is draining your rear. IMO they aren't worth it. Pick up a cheap $10 volt meter off of ebay and just watch your voltage.

I, as well as several people here and people ive installed for have cheap lead acid batts under the hood and good dry cells in the trunk or otherwise. There is no issue mixing them but if you let the car sit for months at the time, the lead acid will die quicker and draw charge from the dry cell.

Yep, mixing AGM and wet has never been a good idea, even tho the AGMs are pretty forgiving nowadays.

I'd still suggest an isolator.

If you want to get fancy, pick up one with a VSR (voltage sensitive relay) activated solenoid to open and close the circuit automatically

wow, all kinds of opinions on this. well this is my daily driver, so it gets started everyday. what is the problem with playing without engine running? i wouldnt be at full tilt, if i do play with engine off its just half volume if we are hanging out or something.

i used too. had a motorcraft wet cell and a ups batt they did fine. but now that i run all agm i see a lil increase. not much tho.

You can mix, the only issue is.. If your car sits a long time without being tan the larger battery will drain the front till it equalizes out.. to the point you would need to have it jump started. Unless its going to sit for a very long time you will be fine. They are both 12v batteries

Only cool people sit and listen to the car stereo, but im not cool so i generally just listen to the stereo in the car when im driving the car. If im in the yard or in the house i listen to the stereo in my shop or the one in my house. The one in my shop is actually louder than the one in my car and can be heard 3 miles away //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
