Did sound deadening destroy your car too?

You should check your windshield cauling(forget how to spell it, the plastic piece. Sometimes these allow water to get down under the dash and being in AZ the heat kills the stuff they use to seal these. Just an idea. Also if you wash your car alot cuz it's not like a whole bunch of water, but it's enough to give it a musty smell. I had a van that had this problem
