im surprised tho that way back then these took 1100w rms compared to idmaxes now days only taking 1000. would have thought this old sub would took less

No but when was the IDSPL made? before the v1 idmaxes came out.

idk if all idmax's have been 1000w rms since v1, but the other subs as they go up in versions have gotten more and more power. so considering this sub was made well before any idmaxes and takes the same power as the most recent idmaxes seems impressive to me.

now i just wonder if i should throw 1200w rms at it, or if it might be too much for it since its so old

i know ur on the id forum cruzer if you go there and do a search there's ALOT of info already posted. boxes pwer specs even the different versions of the idspl i tried to post the search but it won't let me

just found this so im really confused as is the poster

"I had sent 2 IDSPL 15's to be reconed when I got them back Eric had a note in there saying D2 ohm 1.4 cubic ft sealed each. Thats what I built and it sounds great. I have an Audio Control Epic 160 in the dash and it says 143DB. I have a Zapco referance 1000 running both I just purchased another referance 1000 so I can run one to each 15. My question is that I see on these forums that the box recomendation is 2.25 or greater and acheving 160db. I just want to know what is the ideal box for these 15's sealed or ported? Hope someone can help."

the one i am buying is d2 ohm so i guess ill try the 1.5 if its not good sounding then ill have to build another =/

What you have there... is the old old old IDSPL.. there was annother version after that.. larger motor and different cone/surround (looked kind of like an ID max with that blue IDQ basket instead of the cast one) the one you have a pic of probably shouldnt see more than 750w RMS.. an I would say it's worth $100(performance and history combined).. but you could probably get a better sounding and louder sub for $100(it does NOT sound like an IDQ....)
