Did I get ripped off?

Supposedly new AB XFL-1522 I purchased off of ebay.

Is it normal for the coils to look like this or did I get sold a used sub?

Coils can look like that. Sometimes they are totally black even when new. It depends on what coil they used.

I can’t zoom in on it for some reason. I’m just looking at the thumb nail, but it looks ok on the small pic

My xfl 10 coil looked exact same way.

The new style ribbed surround XFLs have black coils.

The old ones were copper.

This has the ribbed surround. Problem is the coil looks black and copper. I'm at a loss. I was ready to roll with it until Bob from AB replied saying it was used.
Here's some more pics of different parts of the coil with different lighting for reference. Appreciate the help!

I still can’t look at the large view of those for some reason. I can only see the thumb nails. Is he saying he can see that the coils have been well used? I don’t see any specific burn spots or melts.

I believe his thought is that a new coil should be nice and shiny.

But Bob at AB is the one thats telling him its used. Thats a new coil.
