Did I crank it too loud? Or can I blame the eBay wiring kit..

which electrical environment are we speaking about. i was answering the real question here, not speculatig on different circumstances? you're asking an irrelevant question.
i highly doubt that the reaction between copper and aluminum would be the primary reason why the connection loosens over time, you do realize the majority of people half ass shoving the wire into the the terminal to begin with? same problem with crimping or spades.
i'm just telling you from a physics standpoint. i do understand that sometimes people are careless but the reason that things like this happen alot are from ****** connections not just from a dummy that can't properly tighten a wire but from the cheaper *** distro blocks have 3x the expansion rate over even cheap copper. noone was there to now if he had a bad connection initially so we are all speculating. fact is use good stuff and get someone knowledgeable to help you install it..

what im getting at is buy good stuff and fuse it properly. improper fusing and poor electrical connections both by poor installation and by cheap JUNK can potentially cause a fire that can ruin your car are hurt ya. to the poster. its good to e confident and installing your own gear is rewarding and can be fun. please make sure you get the knowledge required to do it safety. if you have specific questions as what steps to take next i suggest you get an new fuse holder at the very least. and COMPLETELY cut at least 1inch back of wire on both sides of the fuse holder to avoid anymore problems. if the wire looks burnt cut it back abit further..

SHD801 - Stinger HPM MIDI Fuse Holder

another note is NEVER upgrade your fuse based on your amps current draw capabilities without knowing what the wire can handle before the jacket melts off.. lol

most 4 ga can handle 100 amps but as you start getting into longer runs your going to get voltage lost and increased amperage. id ultimately limit 4ga to 60 amps to be on the safe side. if your amp is drawing more than 60 amps continuously Id suggest you step it up to 2 gauge and fuse it for 80 amps..

I know how to install things. The fuse holder melted where one of the screws holds the fuse. The fuse is actually still good, but I replaced the entire holder/fuse/and battery terminal connector and she's working like new //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
