Did I blow out my speakers?

Hey I have Pioneer coaxials amp'ed by a Polk Audio amplifier. I've had this setup for about a week with no problems, but then today the back speakers made like a gunshot sound but kept playing. I turned down the gain and the volume and they were fine, but then about 30 minutes later, it happened again...this time they went all staticky. Then they popped one more time and back to normal... What is the problem? Too much power?

you might be sending to much power twords the speakers or your amp might be temporarily failing how many watts is the amp? the speakers?? is it turned up all the way? u gotta be more specific....it may also be wired incorrectly....theres alot of things that could be causing this but after a week i doubt the speakers are blown unless your pounding way to much power into those subs

uhh if im reading this right he is talking about SPEAKERS not subs..... but yea i think that u might have an amp problem..... that it weird that they switch in and out like that (ie... from good to shitty) might be a wiring problem that might be bringing the ohmagetoo far down on the amp.... what omage are the speakers? Amp?

Yeah I mean speakers... the amp is 150rms per channel, but I actually put 2 speakers into 1 channel (so 75 to each speaker). All 4 speakers into a 2 channel amp. They're wired correctly, but could it be that my speaker wires are too thin? I think that's the only thing wrong with my setup. The max on the speakers is at least 250, and the max on the amp is 850, so each speaker will never get 250 watts. 80RMS is the nominal power for the speakers, and they're getting like 75, so it shouldnt be a problem. Model numbers in case youwanna do your own research: AMP: Polk/MOMO C300.2

6.5s: Pioneer TS-A1681R

6x9s: Pioneer TS-A6991R

Thanks a lot for your feedback so far.
