Strokers go bump bump
I have a cerwin vega 15 dvc 4 ohm per coil hooked up to a jbl 1201.1 amp.

It started cutting in and out then i pulled over to check it and it was blowing smoke out the ports why did this happen? i think i fried my sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

next time stop turning volume up if sub isnt getting any louder //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

it prolly wasnt over powered, it was prolly clipped.
according to stones clipping doesnt destroy a coil only overpowering does //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Only 2 ways to destroy a sub-

Exceed its thermal limits.

Exceed its mechanical limits.

(Psst....Takes power to do that;) )

^ maybe you should read up a little bit about clipping, you can blow subs with only a 200w amp even if its rated for 800w pretty easily. specially in a big *** high tuned ported box and a 20hz sine wave
