So I decide to take the initiative to do an install on my recently purchased car. I had a Knukoncepts 4 gauge wiring kit, an alpine 5 channel amp, a 12" sub, and a set of Crystal components. I also replaced my stock battery with an Optima Red Top, and replaced the POS battery lead with a hi pro brass connector that accepts up to 4 gauge wire.

After I'm done with the install, I drive off, and my car won't shift past 3rd gear.....it's an automatic with the tiptronic, and the tiptronic function doesn't work at all now, either. And the "AT" light continues to flash on and off, and will not shut off. The transmission will shift back down to 2nd and 1st gear, it just won't shift itself past 3rd.

I was hoping that this would be a computer brain issue that would just reset itself, but it hasn't. I loosened the POS battery terminal, waited a few minutes, then reconnected it tightly in hopes that it would cure my shifting woes. No dice.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what might've happened? I didn't mess with the ****** or any mechanical parts of the engine/car at all, so I'm stumped.

727 is right and yes some of them do.
Thanks fellas.

So what exactly does disconnecting the battery overnight do? Someone care to sum it up for me? The car is a 2003 Mazda Protoge 5.
