Definitive answers......Amp screwed to Sub Box?

Welp....what you say

Im thinkin of screwing an amp or amps to the sides of my sub box on next setup to save space

Maybe with some strips of 1/4" rubber under amp than screw it to the box

Thoughts?

mine are mounted to the top of the box on Velcro. box is carpeted and Velcro on the amps sticks to it.

because velcro sticks to the carpet I have really well.....and it is crazy cheap. Plus I don't have to put any holes in my box

my nine.1 is on top of my box.

no problems at all even with 2 12's at very loud volumes

the airgap between the top of the carpet and box removes all the finite vibration as well

Can you double baffle the side you want to mount the amps on to cut down on some of the flex/vibration? I did it with an install a few years ago and never had any problems. I have also thought about mounting my amps to my box due to space in my next install but have been amprehensive about doing it.

just add some spacers / washers about an 8th or a quarter inch between the box and amp. I suggest rubber spacers and use screw lengths that won't go through the box.

Yeh I was gonna double baffle whole thing and use rubber between box and amp. It would help a lot for this install to have the extra space. Thanks for the replies

never had a problem before with mounting amps on the box, every setup i have had i put the amp on the box to save space. Even my first setup with a prefab box and an audiobahn amp (although that one was probably actually the safest considering it was pretty quiet) compared to what i have now.

I've also ran two different amps on the box for my fi Q with no problems (box has no bracing either, been using it ~ 8months no problems).

On my soon to be built box with the 4 12"s i will be mounting my amp on the box, since i don't have anywhere else to put it (this box willb be braced though).

mounted both my amps to my box directly. No spacers, just bolts going right into the T-nuts in my box. Never had a problem.

Does anyone on here really think that there are places in the trunk where there will be less vibration? Whether you mount it directly to the box, or to the trunk floor, or lid it doesn't make much difference, still gunna be a shit load of vibration.
