deck skipping pretty bad

What do you guys do when your deck skips? It skips quite a bit, not just major bumps, but even some smaller ones. Its installed in the same spot as my Pioneer, which had no issues with skipping. However, my dash kit is broken- at the bottom of the deck, the very thin plastic piece is snapped. I dont see how that would make such a difference, but thought it might. New deck is the Alpine 9831, so its not like its a Dual piece of shit or anything....

Is there a certain spec you can look at to tell if a deck is more likely to skip?

Any suggestions on what to do? I was thinking if I could maybe put foam underneath it or something.......

oh and alpine hus have a TERRIBLE compatibility with bad cd medias... id recommend you trying different types of media...

if that doesnt help probably you may have an internal problem with it... has it been like that since you bought it or is it just a recent problem?

Im thinking its not secure in the dash. On my dash kit, the bottom piece is busted, so its not as stable as it could be......Sound like that might be the problem? Can I put foam in there to hlep or what? Ive seen it mentioned before, but not sure where to put it.

why are you gonna do it if you're not sure if that's the problem yet... send it to Alpine first for them to take alook at it first... i heard their technical assistance in US is flawless...

also check with other cd types

let's see here, he can spend $10 on a new dash kit and see if that helps, or send it to alpine where it's probably out of warranty and pay cash out of his pocket and see if there's a problem. i recommend just laying out $10 for a new dash kit and then try it. if not you are only out $10.

Thats what Im going to do........Alpine has a flat $95 fee..........Im really, really, thinking its the dash kit.

i have the same problem with my sony deck (cdx-r3300) had it almost a year and when i got it it was great no skippin at all, now it skips over everything , i thought in the beginnin it was the cd player but then someone suggested it might be the shocks in the car and when i thought about it it definately seemed like the shocks had something to do with the skipping, when i drive over bumps now you can definalty tell a difference from when i would drive over bumps before. soo just take that into consideration.
