I just put an alpine cdm 7871 in my 1989 blazer. i had it working and then when i went to put it in the dash it blew a fuse. i put a new fuse in but now it doesnt work at all. i have no clue what it could be any help would be much appreciated i cant go without my music for much longer.

MIND_L which wires do you connect to which battery terminals? Never heard that before.

Anyway, Check all your wires, make sure properly connected and no wires touching (if you used electrical tape). My problem was loose wire! Thats if your lucky, probably blew fuse inside head unit though..

look man......you cant blow a fuse in the vehicle if you dont blow the one in the back of the HU first...check that one.
Actually, you can and it happened to me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Listen supraman I guess you have no idea about the flow of current. If he touched the wire from the fuse box to a ground it would blow the fuse in the fuse box and not the one on the HU. If the short is after that connection then he could have blown both at the same time.

There is no reason to come on here and have an attitude with people who are asking for help.

But back to the problem. Check all the fuses in your fuse box, and the ones on the back of the radio. Also check to make sure you ant is hooked up and is getting a good signal. Some HU do not work well and will not power on without that hooked up.
