decisions decisions plz help

This is my first post here, but ive been a reader for a while.

I want to get sub(s) for my car(99 civic), but cant decide. I've narrowed it down to these choices

All will be in a ported box tuned to probally somewhere in the 30's

2 12" RE SE's + jbl 1200.1/ RE 35.1

1 15" Brahma + jbl 1200.1/ RE 35.1

1 15" XXX + RE 35.1

there basically all about the same price range but which will give me the best bang for the buck? i am a n00b at this so bare with me. I am looking for SPL over SQ but not that much over. I listen to mostly rock/ techno/ trance if that has any barring on anything.

I'd put my money on the twin SE's for SPL. (it seems to me that 2 12" will have much more cone area than a single 15", but I could be wrong)

Another thing, I think the RE 35.1 is sold out and on back order.

2 12" SE's will most likely get the loudest...but also sound the worst...

Brahma and XXX will sound very similar in a proper install...

im not worried about the backorder/out of stock ive got time to raise the cash

The Brahma and XXX are basically an SQL driver, each has a nice amount of throw, and SPL capabilities, but were also made with SQ in mind. The SE is more geared towards SPL than SQ.

what would u recommend i get if i went with the ED A's? 1 12"? 2 12"s? 1 15"? 2 15"s?

also should i look into the ed nine.1 if i was willing to wait?

The ED NINe.1 looks promising, and would be up to ED quality. ED = quality , according to the many people who has had experience first-hand.

I think the choice of size might depend on your budget, but I know that it is slightly cheaper than the brahma and defintiely cheaper than the XXX.

When the nin.1 actually comes out, it will be a popular amp...

well im looking to keep my budget a little less $800 for sub(s) + amp. Im looking for a setup that would hit in the high 140's maybe low 150's.

there was a preorder for the ed nine.1 correct? how much were they goin for? any idea on when theyre goin to start filling orders. i thought i read thing like in the fall, correct me if im wrong

Nine.1's are a 15 week minimum wait...currently their Avionixx amps are on sale, but it will probably end soon...

You could do 2 12" A's, and a RE 35-1D, or the A's and any amp that does 1200-2000 watts at 2 ohms...

There were some hiccups with the delivery of the NINe. series amps, so I think they've stopped taking orders for the time being.

A large box with a high tuned port might make your car louder, but will suffer in SQ. I'm sure the ED subs can perform really well, so don't leave it out in the dark.. again, the disadvantage is the indefinite waiting period.

is there a big difference if i went with 2 15"s over the 2 12"s, also i have to run them at 2 ohms or can i run them at 1 ohm?

over SPL, a LOT of difference...

You can do 2 things- wire them together for a 2 ohm load, or wire them to their own amp for a 1 ohm load each...
