Right now i currently have 2 12" alpine type-r's that i bought last saturday, i am not really that satisfied with them plus they are being underpowered only seeing 350 watts each i have the alpine m1005 amp going to them. I have the option to go with 1 12" w6v2 instead which is the better choice? Sorry but i am a little new to this so the help would be greatly appreciated. It will be going into a ported inclosure in a 98 ford taurus //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Just for the record, Ford Taurus = Best car ever. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/2thumbs.gif.fdc3ba010dbb42b61704534b46d02fe4.gif

I don't think you will get any louder by getting the JL. Besides they are both SQ subs.

What kind of box are your Alpines in?

right now a pos pre fab(sealed) because i have had no time to build one i have worked every day since they were installed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Yes definitely build a new box. I think you will see a big difference.

I'm not satisfied with my Pioneer 2000SPL's anymore either in their sealed 1.00 cu.ft. box... A new box is my #1 priority.

i have heard that the type Rs arent great in a ported box. the W3v2 and type Rs are similar (the older ones are more silmilar), and i've thrown my 3 w3v2s in a ported box once (32 Hz), and thought they were lackluster, and the it wasnt worth the gain in output i had. The new Type Rs should still do some good work with 350 watts.

Also, calculate and post the volume of the enclosure. It may just not be fit. But prefab boxes are often not a bad choice when going sealed. However, it is most often not a good idea to used a prefabricated ported enclosure. Experiment if you want, a ported box still may suit tastes. And definitely fool arounf with enclosures before you go blow your money on a new amp.

i was going to be building my own ported box but im running into problems because of a brace in my trunk that i have to fit the box under the box either ends up to short or not wide enough //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif i come up with 25" wide but the subs are 12" each so no room for port...
