So i went ahead and popped off my door, you might have saw my thread in the general discussion...(http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=325794) Anyways, i just want to know if i can fit either a PG RSD or a set of infinity Kappa 6.5" in my doors? Someone said you sohuld be able to fit any size speaker in any door, but idk cause i measure about 1.5" or so from the metal to my factory grill. What do you think?

Just remeasured, its 3.5 Inches from my window to the factory grill in my door, can anyone make me a MDF plate taht will fit? and can i just glue it to the door?

MDF ring. Seeing as how this isn't a high end install, you can just use plastic mounting rings. Scosche makes them. You put the speaker in the ring, and just drill it directly to the door.

I dont just want to drill into the door though, theres a plastic big sheet taht everything attaches to and there is the actualy door. I cant just have a screw sticking out of my door. I wanna see if i can glue a ring to the actual door. Right now i have about 3.5" of space to work with from my window to my grill. I really dont know what to do and what to use to accomplish this install. Need some insight.

You need enzyte.

Can someone make me a MDF ring for cheap? my nearest store that would hold MDF is about 45 minutes away. And really have no spare time. Would Ace Hardware carry MDF at all?

Um well, i can find a **** thing about speaker depth or hole size or anything on these PG RSD's.... Can anyone help me out with some dimensions?

Well, first off your factory speaker is a 4x6 not a 5x7.

While that doesn't sound like a big deal, if you want to put a 6 or 6.5" speaker in the front door, it probably won't fit without cutting some metal. A very shallow 6 with a very thick spacer, basically a spacer that is nearly the same depth as the speaker could possibly work.

A 6 or 6.5 will fit in a factory 5x7 location by simply making a mounting plate, as long as it isn't too deep.

Generally a 4" mid is about as big as you can go, as a drop in replacement for a 4x6 location. Maybe a 5.25, but even that would probably require some modification. Obviously a 4x6 will be a direct replacement but generally those are in a coaxial configuration. Some companies make a 4x6 "plate" that has a "component system" (4" and tweeter) on a 4x6 mounting plate.

Good Luck,

-Jay

I could make you a spacer but I only have scrap 3/4 mdf. If you put those rsd's in there you might have to cut some sheet metal, which isnt the end of the world. Bigger problem is the mounting depth and speaker clearence from the factory grill/door panel.

You may not be able to roll you windows all the way down if your not carefull, PG are pretty deep, depending on your use of the MA/C, it may not be the end of the world.

Your door panel might not fit on properly/ not enough clearence. Try to put something behind your door to simulate the extra clearance needed, see how your door panel fits.

If you ever sell the car you can just throw in some 4x6 and screw them into the remaing sheet metal.

If you need the rings, like a said in your other thread, get me the dims.

Also look at the rsd 6.0 's they might be easier to work with.

I actually got the 6" RSD's unintentionally. I wont notice a big performance difference will i? Ya as far as i can go is the window. I work at a stainless steel factory so the guy said i can use all the tools i need, so taht shouldnt be a problem cutting the metal. But i do not think i will need to cut metal as there is one big giant piece of thick plastic that everything is mounted to. Where do i apply the sound deadner as well?
