Decided to make it metal.

Where you at in NE ohio? I'd like to hear this if I can. Not to ridicule or whatnot like most on here, legitimately curious as to how this would sound. sounds interesting

a metal box will work just fine as long as the right type and thickness of metal is used.and it is not 16th inch or 16ga which ever he is talking about
that could work, i would have to be thick metal (not regular sheet metal) then to get rid of the echo sound i think it would still cause you would then most likely have to stuff the box with poly

cost and difficulty of working with it is probly why good metal boxes are so rare .i would love to use some of our steel plate in a super street build but i dont have a car that i could use(destroy)

So where's the pics? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

I'm starting to think it didn't work out so well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

I would say it would need at LEAST 1/4" steel. Then bracing(leadscrew etc) for larger faces. I would say you would need to do something interesting on the port if you're doing an internal L/| style port. I would look for some way to brace the middle of it if it is a fairly long port, else it would sound like shit as the air passes over it causing it resonate at it's own frequency.

Nah I'm back it's just that my cell phone won't upload the pics to my computer. The box isn't finished yet all that needs done is for the nuts to be welded on the back side of the front plate to mounts the subs.Call bs all you want but I'll have pics in the next few days.

Ok so this box needs to be about 1/4 thick? This is going to be one heavy *** fat lady box... What subs are you going to use? Are you porting it? Doing the 45degree thing, flared ports? Are we going to get a thread the reads "help, I can't separate my subs from my sheets of steel stock..." I am subscribing for entertainment purposes only....
