Decibal Meter

Went to Radio Shack yesterday to see if they had some shitty SPL meter to see if I can figure out which hz I peak with. They had one but it only ranges up to 126DB. Cost was $49.99

O shit im interested in that meter that goes up to 150. Would that be a good meter to measure where I peak? Is it accurate? Does anybody know of other meters kinda like a TL but cheaper?

the audiocontrol epic 160 is pretty consistant.. so you can play with it to measure your peak, it says it'll do up to 160, my store has em for 279+ship, i'm sure you can find it cheaper on the net someplace.. but it also has the epicenter inside, which could be used for it's own purposes as well.

Its not really "accuracy" of whats loud, its consitency. The great thing about the termlab, is no matter where you go, or if you are comparing 2 head to head, they read within a few 1/10s of each other, something that really none can do, save maybe the 190. You can break it down and rebuild it, and it would read the same.
