after what i heard so far im thinking about it. i should just run 4 subs instead. why risk it.

Ask him to play them or if he can't at the very least take a DMM and check the coils. Set it to impedance (the little ohm symbol) then put the probes in the terminals (one set at a time) and it should give you a reading for the coil which should be like 1, 2, or 4 ohms.

That style BTL was made up until this year or the end of last year. I don't know how old they are, but, at that price, I would just get new ones.
