Dead Short.

Could a dead short mess up a battery? Happen to me a while back while I was putting on the termimals. The cable that I atach to the positive post accidentally touch the negative terminal for like 2 seconds and the battery got warm, battery posts got warm/hot too. Now the battery wont charge at all. Btw its a hc1800, its under 12.5 volts.

yes, it may have messed it up. A dead short never is good for anything. (except welding) Didnt you have a fuse on the bat wire? i guess not if it shorted. try depleting the battery completly and then do a trickle recharge maybe. but if its not charging and wont go above 12.5 then it may be toasted.

Or sell it on here as a good working battery and then blame the buyer as user errror like some threads ive seen.

Na just messing, dont do that.
