Well, that was completely awesome. Thanks to Comcast and the worst broadcasting of all time, we missed the first 7 rounds of the first fight, the entire second fight, an the first 10 rounds of the main event. **** you Comcast, you are the worst cable company of all time. I am expecting a full refund, free PPV for the rest of my life, free movie channels for the next 720 years, and $50 million cash. WHAT THE ****

Local comcast sometimes geeks out. It has done so many times for me, to the point where I have found out the person's name and threatened them that I'd be at their property when they got off of work.

To make a long story short, I had a word with the Chief of Police; a close friend of mine.

Actually the punch and move style was taught to him by his father. Its a classic Mayweather style. It seems to work very well too. I believe Mohammed Ali did the same thing. You might want to familiarize yourself with the sport a bit.

They blamed the outage on Scientific Atlanta, the company that makes their cable boxes. They told me that SA just so happened to send out an update that knocked out the PPV channel for the whole fight....meanwhile the rest of our cable was working fine. So they put the blame on someone else and offer to refund the price of the PPV that I didn't even get to see without offering jack shit to satisfy their customers. My Comcast service gets cut off tomorrow.

My comcast area is a piece of shyt. It's honestly no biggie because I talk them out of a free PPV along with a free PPV of the re-run.

Appreciated a lot though. Any suggestions you might have to offer would be awesome so as to help with this situation in the future.

Apparently there was an outage in our area for 90% of the fight. I just called Comcast and they offered to refund my $54.95 that I paid to NOT see the fight. Thanks Comcast for the generous offer you ****ing assholes. This is only the beginning, I promise.

Think of it like this. Outages mainly occur when there is a technician working on the cable lines or on an active device (fiber node, BTD, mini-bridger amplifier). You may want to thank your neighbors for scheduling an appointment in that time frame to get line maintenance. It doesn't have to be on your street to affect your neighborhood since everything is basically daisy-chained. I apologize on behalf of Comcast for your inconvenience.

I must say, quite considerate of you to apologize on behalf of something that does not directly involve you....yet, you may consider that it does due to the "daisy chain" effect.

Either way, don't sweat it. It's a part of a business and all businesses have flaws. Shit happens.

 
Uh....I'm pretty sure nobody scheduled a maintenance call at 11 PM on a Saturday. Comcast already blamed the whole thing on Scientific Atlanta for sending out an "update" on the one channel carrying the one program I wanted to watch at the one time I actually wanted to watch it. Once again, **** you Comcast and **** you Scientific Atlanta. Any good businessman knows that when something like this happens, you go above and beyond to make sure it never happens again (look at JetBlue) and to compensate the customers that have been effected by the problem. They have done neither as far as I can see, so **** them.

 
I don't think Scientific Atlanta had anything to do with it. They make our Taps and a lot of our amplifiers, but most of our digital boxes are made by Motorola now. SA cannot send updates to your box. Only Comcast can do that. Unless your system works off of an addressable tap system, I don't see SA having much control of anything.

However, they refunded you your money. What more do you want? A company cannot stay alive if they gave away free stuff every time a customer gets mad. Lets be fair now. They messed up, apologized and gave you your money back.

And I just got back in from work myself. Comcast technicians work around the clock. Its quite possible that a line call was booked that late. Since line calls don't need any customer interaction, many customers will book it late at night so that they don't miss any of their communication. They can sleep through the whole thing.
