ddm3b vs DC3.5k vs phoenix elite 3.2k

So a local guy today i met from a FB socal audio page needed a diagnosis. He was wondering if both is amps were bad or if its something up with his system since a shop told him it might be the amps.

So we metup, gave a demo of my 18s on the dc 3.5k at 1 ohm as a point of reference. Then swapped The DDm3b. The m3b was smaller than the dc 3.5k, felt kinda sturdy, and i wasnt really expecting much at all.

Set gains and then turned on the volume, I gotta say D*mn! very noticeable output gain from the DC. similar 3ks performing the same my @ss. Verified that this amp is good and something else is wrong with his setup.

Put in the phoenix gold elite in, **** this thing is HEAVY, crazy good heatsink, plexi glass bottom beautiful amp, was told this was underrated. Noticed that i had to set the gains higher for this one since the gain knob is not sensitive as the other two. Result, almost loud(by a very small amount) as the DDm3b different sound signature, cleaner, less rough. Also set off car alarms from the parking lot from the other side of the street vs the other two that didnt if that even matters.

Sad to see my DC performed the worse out of the bunch, it was clearly outclassed in loudness output even with a moderate clip, it couldnt get close.

As you can see, this is very scientific, with no clamp test or nothing, just real world ear o meters with one that knows the output levels and capabilities of his current system very well.

We dont all have the time and equipment you do for proper tests with numbers to show. We met at the back of a bank america, first time meeting the guy.

Do you have a meter to use ? We always meter different amps, it's funny cause I was running my CT2200.1 & switched it out to a stetsom 3k and its crazy how much a smaller amp out preformed a much bigger amp.

No meters or tools used on this? some one set gains LPF or something wrong. Its almost impossible to tell a 200 watt difference once you get up to those power levels. I went from an saz2500 to a aq 2200, to a DD m2c. Couldnt tell a difference to the ear on any of them.

DD does better at lower voltage so that's prly why its sounds louder?

No tools, just a quick meetup. Voltages at 14.0 steady after drop. Turned it up till it stopped getting louder/changed tone of bass and went back two notches on the volume knob for each. Usually is the safe point for my setup If I were to set gains with an oscope or dd1 on my system. Thats usually the point of before clipping, since each song will have different db levels of basslines.

Already knew this when I swapped the 5.0 with the M4 last year. M4 was a tick louder clean than the 5.0 was with a soft clip. .2db I think. I had it written somewhere.
