The sub is

RMS: 1500 watts

Is it under rated or over rated?

Those things can be pretty loud in the right box. Nice sub. Very jealous.

One person in my town had 2 9518s on 4 dd m3a amps if that gives you any idea. It was NASTY!

It will handle whatever you throw at it as long as its clean. Mine are taking 2500 a sud easily for now. 3500 a sub in the future. Some run a m4a to a single. They are very beastly woofers. Just shows that you dont need a heavy 4 inch coil or 8 layer 3 inch to take abuse.

I was thinking 2 Audiopipe APSM-1500's so total power it will be getting are 3000W Rms

Total clean power will be way less. Close to rated which is a joke. I think it's a warranty number.
