I am going back and forth on this one and I can use a little input. I'm going to be running a MB Quart DSC1000.1 for an amp, so i'm looking for a single sub that can handle 1000W @ 1 ohm. Right now my two choices are the DD2512 or the audioque HDC312 . Has anybody compared the two? Ive seen a DD a long time ago and im still impressed but Ive also heard people rave about the AudioQue subs...

Also does anybody know how big of a box I should build for this? I have a 90 integra with a huge trunk so....

thanks.

The 2500 series I don't think is on the same level as the Hdc3, the 3500vshdc3 is a more balanced comparison, but to answer the exact question I would go with the AQ

they aren't even in the same league. the hdc3 is somewhere between the 95 series and the 35 series, closer to the 95 series DD. the 2512 is great don't get me wrong, just not in the same league. I think a happy medium would be the 3512. That should suit your needs well

haha well put..

So im hearing a lot of not enough power, should I switch my amp choice. Ive always been a fan of MB Quart but im not stuck on them. SO if I decided to go with the AQ HDC3's and I have $300 for an amp... any choices?

i would save up bout 100-150 more bucks and try to find a Crunch 3000-D Pro' date=' thats what i got runnin my HDC3's and they bang:D[/quote']
2 hdc3's?... lil under powered dont you think? im running one 3518 on a ab 200.1 getten right above 3k after voltage drop, one buddy is running a aq 15 on a 2200 and another on a audiopipe 3000 but they are aluminum coild the copper can take 18-2000 if you know what you are doen, to op the dd will have more low end bass at that wattage the sdc2.5 can take around 800wrms so it would go well w/ that amp, or try the aq 2200d and a aluminum coil hdc3

Im still a little new at this car audio stuff, up here in Fort Collins a sound system is typically a sony xplode with stock speakers...

AudioQue's Website says 1000W RMS, how do you put almost 2x that amount and still be ok?

HDC will do fine off 1k of power, just that they'll get louder with more power. I've run an HDC and DD off 400-500 watts and they still hit pretty hard.

But if you have the $$$ then a 2200d amp would push it quite well.

1k of power I'd do 2.5cubes, 2k of power I'd do 2 cubes. Tune 35-38Hz depending upon what type of music you mostly listen to...

this is true, my dd was on 200wrms ab amp b4 i got the ab and it was still pretty loud but, the 2512's go for around 200 sum used and could grab a cadence ia7 for 1200w save some cash and still get more lowend
