DD1508 vs. 8W7 Pic.

I agree its not all about DB but im trying to get as much out of this little setup I have with an 8" sub and still retaining SQ.. who knows.. in the end maybe the W7 is a better fit for me but I wont be able to go back after installing the DD.. taking a chance to try something new though.

if you want to try a cheap and loud 8

go with the apexjr.com

super 8

$70 for 2 + shipping //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Ive posted this before but this will be the enclosure its going into. I think my math was a little off at the time but not by much. 1.15 cubic feet after sub displacement is what im getting when I calculate it now.

i wish there was an idmax 8 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i doubt they will though. but its a good thought //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif i cant wait to see the idmax 15 first. if it retains the same sq as their 12 it will be incredible. i have considering swapping my 12"s out when it comes out. I have some time to think about it though

what kind of vehicle is this going in? I really like how you installed that w7. looks hella clean
Thanks, I designed the box and got help from a local shop building it. Found some factory seat material that matched and they covered it for me. This is in a 2004 Dodge Ram regular cab. I plan on taking the aluminum bar and powder coating it black when i put in the DD.

nice. i thought that was a ram. i really like how you covered it in the seat material. looks stock. If i had a truck i would have to consider doing this. I would probably downfire the sub though so it wouldnt be seen

You can order pre-built console boxes on ebay for a 10 or 12 down fire sealed. I almost did that but wanted to do something different. Ive installed a few of those setups and wasn't overally impressed. I had thought about down firing an Fi Q 10" and porting it. I can just about get the air space needed but depth and the 27mm of excursion might be an issue. I like having my space behind the seat. The matching seat material was a pain to get it. I ended up getting some off the guy on ebay who builds the console boxes you see on ebay.

Getting a strange sound when I try to push... sounds like the W7 did when I tried to push it. I wonder if I am over driving it or if the amp is clipping? Then again im waiting on a 4 gauge cable kit to come in. The 1000/1 is on a about a 2 ft run of 8 guage then going into a fuse block that feeds 4 guage back to the battery. Each amp will have its own 4 gauge when I am done. Ive read these subs need to break in so who knows. Havent tried to push it all that hard.

1508's really need to load off of something....I would try and figure a way to down fire or something built in front of the sub around 2" away for it to load off of....on 1508's they have a big motor and the moving parts are so light that the cone will just jump out if not loaded well in my experience with 4 1508's.
