how does the jl reproduce the low freqs as oppossed to the dd?? i'm torn now.

would be a lot easier to get the W7 to sound good than it would be the DD. The W7 in a regular slapped together box would more than likely have more low end output (under 40hz)

In a 1cf sealed box the 8W7 has an F3 of about 42hz. The DD can't say the same.

so out of all these opinions, who has actually heard both subs in play? I just think it's funny that people will give their opinions with only hearing one or the other.

Would take more than just hearing both subs..would also have to hear them both in the same set up and same application. All I can tell you is I have heard DD's "sq" show cars from between 1997, 2000, 2005, 2007 and I was never impressed. Then again people seem to like CDT speakers:laugh:

Iv heard 2 JL 8w7's in .8 cu ft each tunned to 30hz in an olds alero and it was impressive. They sounded good and got decently loud. They were on a JL 500/1

On the other hand I ran a DD1508 on 300 W RMS in a 1.46 Cu ft box tuned to 41hz and It got just as loud as the JL's and honesly didnt sound any worse, if not better. The JL's got a little warm after about 15 minutes of playing (tones though) and the DD would get a little warm after about half hour of music but nothing too bad.

Personaly I like the DD, especialy for the price but JL does have a sexy look to them. DD's are really beefy looking and if you do blow them they sell for more then the JL's and recones are much cheaper. Hope that helps.

Loud isn't everything, or in my opinion much of anything.

well, only way to find out is to try. i got a 1508 on the way already. if i'm not impressed with it, then the w7. if i'm still not impressed, i'm gonna smoke some dank.

you know you cant say that in this forum, everything is better then Jl because of there price and if it isnt you still cant say that..just giving you the heads up next time.
