DD 1508 specs...

anyone got the dd1508 and have the spec sheet...i'm looking at trying to make a model to see if i should go 2 3 of them and be louder than my 1 18.
i use 2 set ups

1 is a dd 9515G off a saz 1500 at 1/2 ohm in 3 net at 40 hertz

2nd is 3 dd 1508 off a saz 1500 at .7 ohm in 3 net at 35 hertz

the single 15" is louder

if there were 3 8's, that were 1500 rms apiece, it would be a better contest.

actually pretty fair

same car nissan 350z

same amp

same box dimensions

dd9515 g is getting 1500 watts which is rms recommended

the 3 each 1508 are getting 500 watts rms each recommended

no. fair would be if each 8 received 1500 watts, same as the 15 is. you're at about the right cone area, but each 8 needs to handle 1500 watts to be fair. the 3 8's now would be comparable to a 500 watt 15.

Only thing is the 500 watt rms is their minimum rating. The 1508's take 1000 a piece. Double the power to each woofer and I bet they would rival your 15

yeah 350z is correctkdc i get what you are saying but that is not a fair test

each getting their rated rms (which is what 350 was giving them) would be the fair way to test it
no. you need to push 1500 watts to the same amout of cone area as the 15, not 500 watts to the same cone area. i could be wrong, as i've never attempted to compare 8's to a 15. i have done this with single 12's and dual 8's though, and (2) 200 watt 8's is comparable with a 200 watt 12, in the same type/style of enclosure (there are obviously more factors than just power handling). this is obviously a really broad statement, and i'm not a mathmetician, but after a dozen different 8 inch systems, and 10 or so single 10/12 systems, my ears tell me that 8's need the power.
