DC power supply... ideas?

Is there some aversion to doing it right?
Nothing wrong with having a loud home stereo, it's just that some of the ghetto engineering I've seen people recommend is amazing. And they'll recommend it like it's the right way to do things.
I did it this way because it was the cheap route. I have tons of 12 volt car audio stuff laying around(amps and subs) so I might as well use it...lol. I got my batteries for free and the charger was $200. I got the amp for $50 but I had to repair it with $15 in parts and the 15'' sub was just collecting dust. If I wanted a 120 volt house stereo that is as loud as the 12 volt one I have now it would have cost me way more.
