How much would you think I could gain doing a direct swap? Running the 5s at .7ohms. I want to move up to the 7500 but I need to add a few D3100s first.

Not much on that power those 5's will be power hungry. On 7.5k with the 5's I could see a good 2-3db's and some change. Plus the xl's sound much better.

The XLs have better SQ then the old 5s but I dont know about the new ones. SQ being a relative term. from what I have clamped out of this amp so far running at .7 will put the 5s just a bit under rated.

The m2's do look nice the cooling looks much better. I bet a direct swap would be 1db maybe some change. With the new 3.5 inch coils I would think the 5's would really need 4k each to get pumping.

For whats going to come out of my pocket i think its worth the try, I wont lose anything but more gas milage. How is that box working out for you?

Lol at gas mileage. The box is nice, it puts out a large amount of output at 28-38hz for one 12 on 500 watts.

It should, they both need the same airspace and being inverted the displacement wont matter. And that front stage still needs a ton of work. It sounds better with the subs in.

I could do that. The 7500 wont happen till early next year. 2 big batts and a larger alt will need to come first. Thats about $1200 minus the amp I'll need to come up with. If my 5k sells at the going rate I'm looking at $2000 total for the power up.
