I'm running a ap1800 on one 18 btl and I'm looking to upgrade the alt in my 94 suburban 5.7 engine and decided to go with dc power,I narrowed it down to getting there 180 amp hp model or there 280 amp pro series but when I started to look at the specs the pro series Alts on paper have better specs in every way compared the the hp,but the hp cost more and is currently out of stock so I'm guessing it's more popular am I'm missing something, has one one tried using either of these Alts, also before anyone ask I've done the big three and added a 2nd batt and still get voltage drops on certain songs down to 12.5,I'm aiming to stay at 14 no lower than 13 at idle

dude honestly i wouldnt even bother with dc power. i have one. it WILL take you forever to get it. and its expensive as hell. ive shopped around and found very comparible stuff elsewhere.

I think the xp

Model is just way to expensive so I dident wana go that route as for dc shipping I live in Cali so I'm hopeing I won't have a problem with shipping but if there are cheaper companies please let me know I'm trying to stay around 400

shipping isnt the problem. its actually getting them to build the **** thing.

dude i ordered my alt,was to modify mine which i bought from them for 16v setup. paid $830 for a 380sp model with external regulator thats adjustable. that said everything was in stock 2 week lead time. so 3 weekd went by. still nothing. so i called. they said it went out. another week went by. got nothing. called again. said the regulator they had was bad and they had to get a new one ordered 2 weeks ago. which was funny as i called a week before. so i gave benefit of the doubt AGAIN. another week. got nothing.

called back AGAIN. got tracking number. 4 more days alt shows up. alt had no instructions on wiring and no nut for the output stud. called back got instructions after i basically figured everything out on the phone with dude because he was CLUELESS. waited another 4 DAYS for the output stud nut to show up. finally got alt in the truck a month and a half later. and im selling it without the regulator setup.

im tellin you man. it happened to me AND a team mate. serious disorganization over there. nobody does anything but post videos on facebook. ill never buy from them again.

im with the man above. i know a few people have gone a year long PLUS waiting on custom big alt setups from dc power. granted it takes fab time to fit 4-6 alts, but not a year. no way in hell.

yea, DC has been having alot of issues lately with time frames on their alts....

i would check out ohio generators, excessive amperage, mechman, etc...

there are TONS of options out there, that many dont know about

Have you tried Powermax USA on ebay. Good prices and never had a problem with none of their alternators. But I think their highest amp alt is 250 amps. and I think its 180.00 now for your application.
