here's my 3 cents
I am looking to upgrade SPL wise from my 2 12" Ks in box tuned to 30hz and running 800 watts. I know you guys can't give exact numbers because of all the vairables but if I went with 1 15" XXX with about 1600 watts tuned to 35hz and they both had about the same cubic ft. how big of a jump am I looking at. I don't want to go over board. would I be able to run the XXX on less than 1600 watts safely.

My old setup of a XXX 15", a RF 1501 (roughly 1600-1700watts), a 3.5cuft box tuned to high 30's low 40's, in a Mitsubishi Mirage I was able to hit 148db's Lin X...

just to give you an idea...

Can you give us some proof of the 154 on the Lin-X? I have a VERY hard time believing that number.

I don't see why it's so unbelievable, somebody hit an official 153.6 at the Whitlee World Finals with a XXX 15" and around 2000watts, and a smaller box. I ran almost 800more watts, and have a bigger box with more port, and I have a small sedan. I'm going to buy a digital camera in a month or so, I can post some pics, and I'll even try to give you a clip of my sub being metered. That's about the best I can do to prove it.

I could see it happening

What is the least power you can safely run to a XXX. I don't want to under power it, but moneys a touch tight and a new alt could be a little ways a way not out of the picture tough if good amp deal comes along.

I've heard of people running 600watts daily to the 18" and being quite happy with it's performance. It will hugely underpowered, and you're gonna end up wanting to upgrade, but I would say something in the 600-800watts range could be a good temporary solution...

Ok. I was planning on runnig 1000 watts to it till I got the money to up grade. I was thinking of going some were between 1600 and 2000 watts. How big of an alt would I need to do this. Their is a 115 in can get for around $100 for my car. What is the stanard price of something around the 140 amp mark/ how much to rewind the alt/ how high can they rewind one to.

thanx

I got mine done to 180a for $160. That is as high as they could go with mine. $1/a is a safe estimate. I don't know how big you will need to go. I just figured I'm going through the trouble of doing it so I may as well go for the max.

If I am not mistaken.. whitlee uses an AC.. about hmm 3db-4db off from a linX.

What kind of car is it in, that will give me more piece of mind.

1kw will be fine for a XXX. It will be underpowering it,yes, but it will be fine.
