Speaking of different mics, how did 150 ten years ago become any less loud now? never understood how new mics keep lowering the SPL. It's like saying 10 Degrees in 1995 would be 4 Degrees now.

No, it's like saying your driving down the highway and your speedometer says you're going 75mph, but a cop with a calibrated radar guns tags you and registers you as doing 68mph. Moral of the story: The speedo in your car is uncalibrated &/or simply inaccurate, and hence is not outputting the actual speed you are traveling at.

New technologies.

The new Termlab is a SENSOR, not a Mic. It does not have a diaphragm like conventional Mics have. I could easily type out a long reply but it's easier to do this:
