Did you set your gains with a DMM? If not, you probably clipped the shit out of it or a previous owner fucked it beyond help before you got it.
What is a DMM?*edit*

Here are the settings:

____________________________________

1-1 Input : 2ch

1-2 Input Level :-4db

1-3 Gain Factor :0db (lowest it goes is 0db)

____________________________________

2-1 LP On\Off :On

2-2 Frequency :63hz

____________________________________

3-1 Subsonic On/Off :On

3-2 Frequency :25hz

____________________________________

4-1 Parametric EQ On\Off :On

4-2 Frequency :50hz

4-3 Width Q. :3

4-4 Level :-2db

____________________________________

5-1 Bass Compensation On\Off :Off

5-2 Mode :N\A

____________________________________

6-1 Time Compensation On\Off :Off

6-2 Delay Time :N\A

____________________________________

7-1 Phase :0\180

____________________________________

8-1 Amp Set ID No. :1

8-2 Time Of Delay :1.0

____________________________________

9-1 Output Disable :Off

Also, I make most of my own bass tracks on fruity loops. I pay attention to the +/-db levels though and I always keep a limit of 0db per channel. I use the ts404 for bass line generation. There is an option that makes the wave form of the bass line to take a 90degree turn straight down, or straight up, before coming back up, or back down but I never use that and I dont think that it creates a clipped signal either.

Though I use long and low lines that arent usually found in many songs.

I really do need some input here cuz i am bout to buy an aq hd3 15 and i DO NOT want this happening to my new sub...

Hintzyboy do you think that turning up the wave width on the parametric equalizer "Width Q" could potentially cause clipping? This setting makes the output increase when the level on my pmp and h/u is as high as I feel safe to set it.

Also I do turn the volume on my h/u bout 2 increments from full blast(60 of 62). My amp alerts me if it begins to clip the signal but if the signal coming into the amp is clipped i bet it might not detect it...

You may be sending a distorted signal. Set the gain at about 50. You will still be able to get just as loud, as the gain simply compensates for input voltage. If you're sending a distorted signal in the first place, having the gain at 0 isn't going to help

are you talking about the volume on the h/u? cuz i was...

making your own tracks is probably another thing I would blame for this
i know how to keep the db levels in check and everything. i actually know a good bit about music production as far as software reproduction goes.

Yes, I was talking about HU volume. Anything above about 3/4 volume it going to risk distortion
