dbdrive platinums are stoud drivers, you probably were clipping the piss out of it.

also arent they only like 120 bucks?

Can't you hear clipping? I was running 1000wrms to it and its only rated 750wrms. That coil smelt burnt.

Coil is definitely burnt and it looks like it was rubbing the top plate as well since there is a really shiny are where it looks like all the varnish was rubbed off of the coil.

jesus christ dude you smoked that ****er, I dont think I ever smoked a woofer that bad on accident, it had to have been distorting and sounding like shit

clipping is audible correct? when i was first setting up my amp(MDR-M1000) i had trouble with the settings and i would get the occasional burp when the gain was too high but i fixed that quickly and it never did that again. never distorted at all what so ever. this is an old sub. went through a couple of people before i got it also. i know i was running too much power because the dust cap would get hot after about 45 seconds at 30-35hz. when i had a lower powered amp it never got hot, or not that hot at least. you think my amp was clipping?

it was kinda on purpose because i am replacing this 12 with an aq hdc3 15" and the sooner it went the better.

EDIT*yeah it sounded pretty bad for a while before the cone separated from the spider and coil. haha.

I would like to recone the motor though. any help in any way would be appreciated. now for bed i go.

I think he's trying to say that the woofer is rated at 750 but he would like to up the rating to 1000 by using a Fi coil.
