Hello everybody!
I'm new here obviously. I read the sticky, I know this is the noob forum. I am interested in purchasing a Dayton ultimax 18. Hence the thread name. Parts express lists this sub as have a f3( I don't think this is the right value) of between 28-32hz well P.E lists 28hz, Dayton lists the sealed as 32hz.
I'm interested in the sub because it can hit the lows in a sealed application. I figure the 18 will get plenty loud because of the cone area. I won't have to push tons of power to I think I can feed it between 1-2k of clean power and be ok. Its rated at 900rms. I've heard Dayton's are very well built musical sub's and that's exactly what I'm looking for. My plan is is build a 3cuft sealed box. Have the 18 down fire behind the drivers seat in my f150 it won't be a square box it'll have around around 1cuft under the seat behind the pass seat with 2ish cuft box so I guess it'll look like a 2cuft box with a 1cuft box attach to it. This is all pretty rough guessimation.
I'm looking for any advice on the box. Should I go an entirely different route? I know most everyone here is a lot more knowledgable than me. So I'm just trying to see if what I'm wanting to do is a good idea or not. I know ported will be louder but the recommended and optimal box sizes for Ported on this sub are not gonna work in my truck. I have an extended cab 03 f150. I'm giving up the seat behind the driver to fit most of the box and sub I was planning on mounting my amps on the side of the box so I can keep and eye on them easily. And getting the extra cuft with a box under the side of the backseat.
I know I rambled alot, sorry!
