Dayton HO Enclosure + Amp Questions

Ok,

So I just picked up 2 10" Dayton HOs.

My first question is, what size box and frequency are recommended for a ported enclosure on these? They will be going into the trunk of a 96 BMW 3 series.

Also, what is a good amp to run these? I was thinking the Alpine MRP-M1000. I think this would be perfect, since at 2 ohms it will give about 1000 watts. Any other ideas for this situation? Looking to spend $200 or less.

Thanks for the help.

They are renowned for thriving in small enclosures. Some people have done .65 net each @ 30hz and loved it. WinISD would confirm that' date=' it seems.[/quote']
Sounds good, thats around what I was thinking. Thanks for the info! Gotta love their space-saving ability. Wanna run 4 of them.

I don't mean to thread-jack, but is there any reason that a HF shouldn't be used in a car audio application, other than the size needed for a box?
The HO seems to be preferred for its output, power handling, space efficiency.

As far as using an HF in an automotive environment; it's possible and has been done. Larger sealed enclosures can yield good results. The suspension is more aimed at a generic home application and purpose, but nothing says the two environments can't overlap. Just a few nuances that will affect performance, whether good or bad for you.

Ahh. Thank you. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I've heard many different things from many different people on this site ranging from, "The only difference in them is 'high fidelity' and 'high output'," to "Oh, wow. HF in a car? That's impossible."

I learned something new, so no worries on the thread jack. But for the same amount of money, the HO can handle a lot more.

I just picked up 2, new in box, for $140, Im super happy.

Enjoy them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Let us know how they turn out for you.

So I just want to verify that 1.3 cubes after displacement @ 30 Hz is great for these? I am going for SQ, I love the output of my RD, but is a bit too peaky for me. I may seal these up, but would love to try them ported.

don't know about the sub mentioned but the reason some home audio subs don't work out is they are not built for the environment a car offers.. they work for a while but sometimes the surrounds can't handle the temperatures, humidity etc
